About HiBooWoo
HiBooWoo was created by someone who loves physical media and got tired of forgetting what was already on the shelves at home.
It started with a simple problem
Like many collectors, I reached the point where I could no longer remember every book and movie I owned. I kept buying duplicates, or wondering whether I had already picked up a particular edition. Spreadsheets and notes on my phone felt clumsy and fragile.
I wanted a small, calm tool that would help me answer simple questions:
- “Do I own this already?”
- “Which unread books do I have in this genre?”
- “What’s in my collection that I’ve forgotten about?”
Why focus on books and movies?
There are plenty of apps that try to track everything: music, games, comics, gadgets and more. The result is often complicated and heavy. HiBooWoo takes a different approach: do a small number of things, and do them well.
That’s why the focus is on books and movies only. If you care about those formats, HiBooWoo is built for you.
A personal project, shared with others
HiBooWoo began as a personal project to solve my own problem and learn more about building reliable tools. Over time it became clear that other collectors faced the same issues, so the app was opened up for others to use.
The goal is not to create the loudest or biggest platform, but a quiet, dependable companion for people who care about their collections.
Where HiBooWoo is heading
The roadmap is intentionally modest. Future improvements will focus on:
- Making it faster and smoother to add items
- Improving ways to browse and rediscover what you already own
- Offering simple, optional ways to share parts of your library
- Keeping the interface simple, even as features grow
